Like you probably will do, we'll take a few days holiday at the New Year. Mario i sentieri will be closed from Wednesday, December 30 through Monday, January 4. So stock your fridge and enjoy the o-sechi!

Can you believe it's December already? Less than a month to 2010 and shinnenkai season. If you're thinking about organizing an event, we'd love to host you here at Mario i sentieri, and we'll be delighted to help you create a memorable event that will fit your budget. Please call us for reservations on 03-6418-7072!

On November 22, Mario spent his day off cooking delicious Tuscan dishes for the Sassicaia Winemaker's Dinner at the Peninsula Tokyo's second annual Cirque Culinaire.
Vintner Sebastiano Rosa presented the “Super Tuscan” Bordeaux-style wines that define Italian cabernet, including Franciacorta Bellavista Cuvée Brut NV, Le Difese 2007, Barrua 2007 (Agricola Punica), Guidalberto 2007, Sassicaia 2006 and Sassicaia 2000.
Mario and a team of chefs including "Iron Chef" Hiroyuki Sakai of La Rochelle and Gerhard Doll, Executive Chef of the Peninsula Tokyo, cooked an eight-course feast including Carnaroli risotto with white truffles, roasted rack of lamb with burdock and roasted onion polenta, and Mario's famous Mont Blanc.
The Peninsula Tokyo's Cirque Culinaire is an annual gathering of dozens of chefs and wine industry professionals from around the world for two days and three nights of eating, drinking and charity fundraising.

From December 19, paintings by American artist and long-time Japan resident David Stanley Hewett will hang on the walls at Mario i sentieri, inspiring our staff (and our guests?) with bushido spirit! Hewett creates Japan-influenced abstract art, incorporating references to Japanese history, Shinto, martial arts and the bushido code, and his work has been exhibited in venues including the Takashimaya Art Gallery, Bunkamura Art Gallery, Mitsukoshi Artifex Gallery and Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art. The bushido series of paintings that will be on display at Mario i sentieri inspired the design of an obi for Takashimaya's Jomon-Kai collection; it became the best-selling obi in Japan (as well as, we can presume, the world).
If we had to choose between art and food, we'd choose food every time, but from the 19th, we don't have to choose! Come by the restaurant and see what you think of the art!
Please call to reserve at 03-6418-7072.

Christmas has always been one of our favorite times of year, and you don't have to be Christian to enjoy the classic tunes, a beautifully decorated tree and a delicious meal. At Mario i sentieri we take Christmas dinner seriously, and of course we give it a very Tuscan flavor.
This year we'll be serving the Christmas menu alongside our a la carte menu on December 22 and December 23, and we'll be serving the Christmas menu only on December 24 and December 25. The Christmas menu, including a half-bottle of Moet et Chandon Champagne per table of two, is priced at ¥15,000 per person (tax included). Please call to reserve at 03-6418-7072. Buon Natale!
